GSM
service uses SIM (Subscriber Information Module) cards to carry the
phone number of the mobile and 250 or more contacts. Portable between
phones so nothing is lost with a handset change. Lose a phone?
Borrow a friend's extra. Each handset
has a unique serial number to provide security. |

|
CDMA
service uses older ESN (electronic serial number) technology where
each phone is assigned a unique serial number to identify the mobile.
If the phone is damaged everything is lost, and to change handsets the
new phone will not function until the serial number is activated.
